ABOUT THE ATHLETE
Sergio Salcido: My name is Sergio Daniel Salcido. I was born in 1994 & raised in Winter Park, FL. I attended Winter Park High, graduating in 2012, and then went on to attend Syracuse University where I graduated in 2017. I had set a goal when I was in 2nd grade and that goal was to attend Syracuse University, be a Division 1 lacrosse player and become one of the best players in the country. I tore my ACL & MCL in my freshman year of college on the first day of practice at Syracuse University. I underwent ACL reconstruction surgery & was out for the year. I worked harder that year than I ever have in my life to ensure that I could get back to an optimal level of performance and to follow my dream. Fortunately, I began to work my way into a starting role by my sophomore season and from there the rest became history. I graduated as a 2-time 1st Team All-American, 2-time 1st Team All-ACC Player, 2-time 1st Team All-ACC Tournament Honor, The ACC Offensive Player of the Year 2017 and finally I was nominated as a semi-finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy award which is the equivalent of the Heisman trophy in college football. I then graduated and was drafted 8th overall in the Major League Lacrosse. Most recently, I was selected in the top 120 players to move into the newest & highest level in our sport, the Premier Lacrosse League.

Sergio: I would play either professional football in the NFL or professional golf on the PGA Tour.Question 5
What or who made you want to pursue an active and healthy lifestyle?
Sergio: Life is very short and the lifespan of being a peak athlete is even shorter. I have always been extremely interested and intrigued by professional athletes especially in the NFL and I want to make the best of my years, weeks and days as an athlete. I have always approached life with an “if you are going to do anything, be the best at it” attitude. I feel that living a healthy & active life allows both my day to day mindset and my aspirations as an individual to go hand in hand.Question 6
WHEN IT COMES TO OUR PROTEIN SUPPLEMENT FLAVOURS, WHICH ONE DO YOU PREFER?
Vanilla, Chocolate, Raspberry or Salted Caramel?
Sergio: I love all the flavors, but I’d say Chocolate is my go-to!
Question 7
WHAT IS YOUR POSITION ON THE USE OF ILLEGAL OR UNCONTROLLED DRUGS IN CERTAIN SPORTS SUCH AS THE FITNESS WORLD?
Sergio: It is always disappointing to see or hear about athletes who use illegal substances within their sport. Again, like I said, life is so short and anything worthwhile shouldn’t be easy. If it is worth working toward, and striving for, you should want it to be a challenge. To experience and overcome adversity along the way. I understand that at the highest level of competition it becomes a game of inches, but I would never condone the use of illegal drugs or banned substances. I always have looked at those things like shortcuts in life for those who mentally don’t set the right expectations for themselves.Question 8
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Sergio: How hard I am on myself at times. I always have been extremely focused & competitive, but sometimes at fault. I feel that it makes me who I am, but I always wish I could just enjoy the moment a bit more versus looking forward to the next best thing!
Question 9
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE SPORTS HERO?
Sergio: My father. My father played baseball at the minor league level after graduating from college. He has always been my role model when it comes to being an athlete and a genuine person. His work ethic, humility & demeanor are something I always will admire and try to emulate.
Question 10
What is the best part about competing?
Sergio: Gameday. Nothing beats the feeling of preparing for game day. The feeling of watching all the work that is typically done behind the scenes and behind closed doors coming to life. It truly is rewarding when you exceed your expectations and you know that it falls back to your training and preparation.
Question 11
What is your favorite song to listen prior to a game?
Sergio: It depends on the day! I typically change my music up quite a bit, but if I had to pick one song I would say “Ali Bomaye” by The Game.
Question 12
If you had superpowers, what would they be and what would be your superhero name?
Sergio: Speed & Strength! I think I’d like my superhero name to be something like Flash or Sonic because speed kills!
Question 13
WHAT IS YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE OR FAVORITE CHEAT MEAL?
Sergio: Time to time, I will eat cheesecake or tiramisu. But I typically try to refrain myself from eating desserts!
Question 14

Sergio: Increase flexibility & a full range of motion, gain 15 pounds, increase speed & explosiveness! Finally, to be happy, to smile, & to enjoy the moment!
Question 15
Who is your all-time favorite player and favorite team in the league?
Sergio: Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers, NBA! His mental toughness, grit & competitiveness is contagious.
Question 16
What advice would you give to youth players hoping to make it to the pro level?
Sergio: My best advice would be to focus on the moment and the process, less on the result. Often, youth athletes are so worried about the outcome of things when they should be focused on the moment, the current opportunity at hand, and simply be where their feet are. I have always been a big believer of attacking weaknesses. Anyone can work on the things they are great at because it comes easy and it is comfortable. But rarely someone will work on the things he or she ain’t good at because it’s uncomfortable.
Question 17
The popularity of lacrosse is on the rise across America. What do you think is needed for your sport to reach and grab more fans?
Sergio: It truly is, statistically, the fastest growing sport in the world today. I think that, in order to increase our audience, we need as professionals to get better exposure, marketing and broadcasting of our games. This would allow folks worldwide to engage with us through competition and get a perspective of what our lives are like, day to day, outside of practices and game day.Question 18
WHY ATP LAB?
Sergio: I am very blessed & fortunate to have the opportunity to represent and use all the amazing supplements offered by ATP. My trainer back home encouraged me to purchase ATP’s products when I was a sophomore in college. I have been using nothing but that ever since! They are very hospitable, honest, caring and very innovative within their products. I have taken multiple supplements throughout my athletic career and I am proud to say that nothing compares to what ATP has to offer!
Question 19
IN A FEW WORDS, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO FANS WHO SEEK A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE?
Sergio: Grab a piece of paper, write down a few things you want to improve upon and develop a strategy or plan around what is necessary to achieve those goals! It is very easy to say we want things and even more easy to think about goals, but it is very difficult to make them happen. I think starting small, staying positive and being where your feet are is truly crucial. Rome wasn’t built in a day and I am a firm believer in the process, the little things, pushing yourself knowing that your mind can compensate for your body when your body feels like giving up!
